Das Venusium entführt seine Besucher mit Fundstücken und Informationen zu den ersten Frauenfigurinen der Menschheitsgeschichte in die Steinzeit.
The small statuette was probably the ideal of beauty for an entire epoch in human history: obese, with heavy breasts and wide hips, the limestone figure from the Stone Age. Recommended for a little journey back in time: The ‘Venusium’, just a few steps away from the discovery site. This small, fine museum takes its visitors back to the Stone Age with artefacts from the excavations and information about the first female figurines in human history. As part of a project curated by Kunst im öffentlichen Raum NÖ (Art in Public Space Lower Austria), every year a female artist creates her very own Venus for Willendorf.
The original Venus can be found in the Natural History Museum in Vienna.
